Software Engineer (m/f/d)
Hybrid (up to 40% remote) · AI, Data & Medicine · Interdisciplinary Environment
We are building something new - digital solutions that connect research and medical practice. No legacy code, no rigid structures - but the freedom to shape how software is built in an environment where ideas turn into impact.
Our team combines expertise in statistics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and medical science. Now we are looking for a Software Engineer who brings these worlds together through technology.
Your Role
- Design and develop modern web or data applications that make research results directly usable in medical settings.
- Work closely with experts in AI, statistics, and clinical science - you will be the technical voice in a cross-disciplinary team.
- Take ownership of architecture, development workflows, and technical standards.
- Build prototypes that evolve into robust, sustainable digital solutions.
What Awaits You
- Real impact: your work supports innovation in healthcare and medical research.
- Creative ownership: help establish the foundations of software development in a growing interdisciplinary environment.
- Collaborative culture: open-minded colleagues from diverse scientific backgrounds, short decision paths, and room to experiment.
- Modern working conditions: flexible hours, up to 40% remote work, and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure.
- Long-term perspective: contribute to initiatives that can evolve into enduring digital solutions.
- Depending on academic qualification and professional experience, the annual gross salary for a full-time position (40 hours per week) will range between €50,000 and €55,000.
What You Bring
- Experience in software development (backend, frontend, or full-stack).
- Motivation to build new structures rather than just maintain existing ones.
- Curiosity and readiness to work across disciplines.
- Interest in AI, data, and meaningful technology - no prior medical knowledge required.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or comparable).
- Excellent command of English (both spoken and written).
- Proficiency in German is an advantage.
- Residence at a commutable distance in Vienna, Austria.
Why This Role Matters
This is not about joining an existing engineering department - it’s about shaping one.
You will work at the intersection of science and technology, turning ideas into real-world solutions that advance medicine.
You’ll have the stability of a university environment with the creative freedom of an emerging innovation project.
