Our department is part of a network of excellence centers for research and training in musculoskeletal imaging. Modern imaging techniques are essential for diagnosis and monitoring of patients with rheumatic diseases. Imaging modalities, including conventional x-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance tomography, and musculoskeletal ultrasound are regularly conducted as part of the routine care for our patients. We also conduct several clinical studies which include imaging techniques or which focus specifically on imaging, particularly musculoskeletal ultrasound. These may provide new insight into the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases.
