Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the joints. It often begins gradually, with symptoms such as joint pain, swelling, and stiffness—especially in the morning or after periods of inactivity. Over time, inflammation can lead to damage of the joint structures, which may result in pain, reduced mobility, and functional limitations.
The cause of RA is not yet fully understood, but it is considered an autoimmune condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own tissues. It can occur at any age but most often begins between the ages of 30 and 60, and women are affected more frequently than men.
Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to slow down disease progression and to preserve joint function. Treatment options include medications that reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system (such as DMARDs and biologic agents), as well as supportive measures like physical therapy and occupational therapy. Regular monitoring is important to adjust therapy and to address any complications or side effects in a timely manner.
At our clinic, we offer comprehensive diagnostics, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing support for people living with rheumatoid arthritis. Our goal is to help patients maintain a good quality of life and stay as active as possible.
