In addition to the care of patients requiring interventional endoscopic procedures, there is close cooperation with the Department of Diagnostic Interventional Radiology, as well as with abdominal surgery and transplant surgery.

Patients can expect state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment. Great importance is attached to close cooperation with the various specialties in the General Hospital in order to ensure optimal care for each individual patient. The high standard of medical and nursing care is documented by the ISO certification of the ward. Patients are admitted to our ward only after consultation with the senior physician in charge of the ward and, as a rule, on a pre-admission basis. The ward comprises 24 systemized beds, divided into 3-, 2- and 1-bed rooms. Ward 21K cares for approximately 1000 patients/year.

The ward is equipped with modern devices for the central monitoring of cardiovascular function and ventilation parameters. Furthermore, the ward is equipped with a blood gas analysis unit and an ultrasound unit for abdominal sonography.

In principle, visits are possible daily in the afternoon from 14:00, but out of consideration for fellow patients, visits should not last longer than 20:00.
